Each shield is designed to conform closely to the globe, with a protective vault over the cornea. The shield features a non-reflective exterior surface that disperses laser energy, while the interior has a polished mirror finish for easier insertion and improved patient comfort.
Constructed from thin stainless steel, the shields are designed to minimize eyelid distortion while providing reliable intraocular protection. The posterior surface and rounded edges are highly polished to create an atraumatic design. An attached handle allows the clinician to easily insert and remove the shield. The shields are universal, meaning they can be used on either the right or left eye, and they are autoclavable for repeated use.

Hi Michelle, great question. They are universal to either eye. There is a narrow part of the shield, which lends itself to be pointed inward toward the nose, but they can be flipped over and used on either eye!
