Preparing the dose

1. Open the package as indicated. Twist the transparent cap
and then pull it off.

2. Twist the orange needle cap and then pull it straight off.
Be careful not to bend the needle and keep aseptic technique.

3. Pull the plunger to apply air into the syringe that is equal
to insulin dose

4. Insert the needle into the vial through rubber stopper using
90 degree angle and apply air inside the vial - to regulate negative
pressure

5. Hold the insulin vial upside down during medication
withdrawal

6. Pull the plunger slowly to withdraw correct dose of insulin
into the syringe

7. If air bubbles appear in the insulin syringe, inject the insulin
back and repeat withdrawal - following steps 5 & 6. Adjust
to proper insulin dose

*Note: Do not change angle of needle during withdrawal
process to prevent accidental bend

Performing the injection

8. Disinfect a small area of skin and let it dry before injecting

9. Make a skin fold and insert the needle in a 45 degree application
angle. Push the plunger and inject insulin slowly. Count
to 10 and withdraw the needle from the skin. Release the
skin fold

10. Dispose the used needle and syringe properly into sharps
container
